CCTV is a technology widely used around the world for decades. There are many modern CCTV cameras that can be used for different applications, even for monitoring your home.

The cameras are installed on different places to monitor people, cars and everything else that can compromise the security of the area.

In this lesson, you will learn about analog and digital CCTV systems and what the key features and advantages of each of them are.

How CCTV systems work ?

If you install security cameras in environments such as malls, shops, schools, businesses or other locations and take the cables from each of the cameras to a recording and monitoring center, you will have your Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) which can record footage from the cameras.
At first CCTV systems could not be monitored remotely, CCTV operators were required to always look at the screens for something suspicious, with the intention of reacting according to some security protocol.

CCTV helps on crime prevention

One of the ideas of the use of CCTV systems is to avoid or reduce the incidence of crimes, since there are cameras installed in closed or public places there is a tendency to reduce crimes because due to the fact that the place is being watched, the criminal thinks twice before acting.

In addition to crime prevention, a CCTV system also allows for a subsequent investigation to find possible suspects recorded by the cameras during specific occurrences.
